A GROWING INTERCONNECTING IN SITU ART LINE
THE LIGHT MERIDIAN
MERIDIAN OF ART
AN INVITATION TO COMPLETION
the project wants to connect architecture, landscaping architecture, panoramic landscapes, new dimensions, in situ artworks and other in situ art disciplines
the light meridian will be a light line with scenically beautiful or artistic sites and landmarks, provided by land owners or municipalities. the in situ works along this meridian light then all feature the same identity of time and light with the colour of their specific latitude.
as the idea is based on a constantly growing project , the light meridian grows by the expanding list of municipalities which are located on that line // the first steps of the expanding list of municipalities will probably be made in the region next to the pioneer municipalities: roeselare, blankenberge and palamós // in belgium the light meridian only crosses the province of west flanders
- there are artworks available in the info point of the light meridian: the muze’um L .
- any artist in the world can provide work on loan (1 to 99 years) or can create work in situ in agreement with the ground owner who takes care of the placed work
- a map of west flanders with the exact GPS positions of these sites is available

IN SITU ART (wikipedia)
contemporary in situ art refers to an artistic method that dedicates the work to its home site // 'In situ' also describes an artwork that reflects the place where it is installed // the most famous in situ art is Land art, which takes into account, most often, the environment in which it is exercised.
OBJECTIVE: BRINGING TOGETHER NATURAL AND ARTISTIC BEAUTY ON ONE LINE
ART & NOMADIC MUSEUMS
IN SITU ART
municipalities look in their region to find sites or spaces for artistic acts.
maybe some land owners give free access to their grounds for contemporary architectural edifices, landart, in situ art or agricultural interventions.
the municipalities basically promote their national artists by giving e.g. free responsibility to a curator (of the region).some installations are available on the light meridian organization to be put on at the light meridian line (see below proposals)
one can also build nomadic musea (or some nomadic museum-like sculptures) which move back and forth along the line. these randomly located musea can move to any other spot along the line and can be complemented with or adapted to the new venue, with respect for what any other continent or village has to add. not only the historical context but also the geological and geographical context has to be curated.
perhaps two or more mobile musea may move to each other in the course of time. as an apotheosis, they may come together at a given moment, e.g. in 2050
the important thing is that the curators are granted space and imagination, whilst respecting the earlier additions.
one can imagine that these are art satellites which do not move around the world, but move over the earth in only two directions: north and south. they so really bring africa closer to blankenberge.
TIMING / DEADLINES
the idea is based on a constantly growing project for years
on june 21 2015 : the light meridian line started privately at the muze’um L in roeselare-zilverberg in presence of the heads of culture of the first involved cities in belgium: blankenberge and roeselare
the official go-ahead took place on July 21, 2016 at blankenberge #be, marking the light meridian coming from the sea into europe by light, firework and laser beams, etc (see video )
MARKING THE PARTICIPATING MUNICIPALITIES AND DISTANCES
a proposal is being studied to apply a signage at the places where definitively something will happen on the line
