THE INTERNATIONAL CREATION OF
THE LIGHT MERIDIAN
ART ON A LINE
an invitation to cooperate
this international art organization (lightmeridian.org) makes an invitation to join private and official forces:
landscape-architects, architects, artists, curators, art studios, companies, foundations, private art lovers
+ local, regional and national authorities.
by placing 'in situ art' along one straith line through europe and africa and making so the Light Meridian visible,
art will interconnect sites, authorities, artists and people on one line of natural and creative beauty
The Light Meridian on 3°7'45"E is an imaginary longitude connecting the north pole to the south pole with a lot of properties that have to do with light.
From the north pole via the sea the Light meridian enters the European continent, right on the casino-light-house in Blankenberge in Belgium. It leaves the continent in Palamos / Spain via the "El Faro" light-house. On the road in Belgium, France and Spain, the light meridian interconnects sites that are linked together by references to light.
The Light meridian was officially inaugurated in Blankenberge by Sven Gatz, Flemish minister for Culture on July 21, 2016.
The private Muze'um L, Light and Landscape in Roeselare / Zilverberg wants to be in all modesty an example and an incentive of the artistic creations of the project.
The Light meridian enters Africa on exactly the future "Le grand musée d'Afrique" in Algiers with 14 ha botanical garden with seeds from all african regions.
The exhibitions are there highlighted, taking into account the time and the position of the sun. (architect: Nadir Tazdait)(see website)
The Light meridian crosses Algeria, Mali, Niger, Benin and Nigeria.
End 2016 an open call was made to artists of all disciplines in order to place art along the meridian line. There were 65 proposals to make the Light Meridian visible step by step by in situ art.
THE LIGHT MERIDIAN,
ART ON A LINE
This meridian would be a straight line, surrounded by artistic interventions. Sites, authorities, artists and people can make creations 'in situ', alone or together.
A recognizable sign would put the works under a common denominator.
PERHAPS AN INTERNATIONAL ART FOUNDATION BASED ON COOPERATION COULD CREATE THIS PROJECT?
with members from the private and official sector.
In that case, the light-meridian can grow in stability and independence. no nations can come to the fore, as do no religions, nations, parties, rules, competitions, only fully freedom.
Nevertheless the participation of cities on E 3°7'45" from the different countries would thereby be very effective.
